Victor & Virgilia Almendarez | Missions Door | Serves the local Lenca people, including abused women, impoverished children, and prisoners. Working towards planting 100 churches, training 5,000 new leaders and pastors, and saturating the entire western region of Honduras with the gospel. Five main areas of focus:
- Evangelizing in local communities
- Providing discipleship materials for every individual
- Training leaders and pastors
- Church planting
- Prison ministry
God is doing great things. Throughout the year, we baptized 150 new believers, and 650 people accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. We reached 2,500 people with the Gospel. We are currently training 120 leaders and pastors. Additionally, we planted five new churches in the mountains, and we have an active prison ministry where we've planted two churches. We donated 650 Bags of Love (hygiene kits) to the prisoners through the Prison Ministry. (To read of Victor and Virgilia' December Newsletter, we have it posted in the Great Room)
Prayer (update as of December 2024):
- For our family (health, protection, and prison ministry)
- For $550 per month to cover our needs
- For the construction of four new church buildings
- Women's Conference: March 7-10, 2025.

Brad & Jen Butcher | Passion 4 People | Serves India, Nepal, and Muslim populations in East Africa as a recruiting, equipping, and connecting movement to multiply disciples, leaders, and churches until no places are left. - Timpanogos Baptist Church in Lehi, UT, has had more visitors, but they still need more committed Christians to help reach that area with the Biblical gospel. With the warmer weather, I have been helping Pastor Chuck Lovelady distribute church flyers door-to-door in that area. His sister, who had a liver transplant and had to have someone with her 24 hours a day for three months, is doing well and is now able to be on her own.
- Sandy Ridge Community Church in Sandy, Utah, has also seen an increase in new attendees. However, Pastor Derek Filley is still in need of qualified men to serve alongside him as elders. Pray that there will be some men to help him lead that church into the future.
- Intermountain Baptist Church in Taylorsville, UT, continues to do well. Pastor Lucas Manning took a one-month sabbatical during June after 11 years, first as associate pastor and then as pastor. He had men from his church fill the pulpit while he was gone. My granddaughterâs husband is considering going into the ministry, and he spoke the last two Sundays in June. This was the pastorâs first time leaving church for that long, and he said it felt like he was absent from his family. Intermountain Baptist also sponsored a booth at Taylorsville Dayzz as an outreach to the community. They sponsor the Bible Bee Summer Study during the summer. Young people learn a lot of Bible verses, and nationally, those who learn the most verses earn cash awards. The church also has Bible studies for all ages as well as several other activities. And they still provide food for around 500 people each week through their Taylorsville Food Pantry.
- Sonrise Baptist Church has seen some good growth. Their AWANA program and Life Groups are among the activities that have helped with the growth. They are sponsoring a two-day Love and Respect Marriage Conference on July 11th and 12th. The builder who purchased the property from Sonrise Baptist to build new housing on it. The new street is finished, and new sod has been put where the construction had torn up the old lawn by the church. So, things are looking much better. Pastor Chris Thompson and his wife are relocating their aunt from Tucson to be near relatives in Oregon, as she can no longer live alone.
- The Salt Lake Tribune had an article on June 21, 2025, that said the âLDS Church hits the highest number of baptisms in its history.â But where were many of those baptisms performed? And what was the LDS message the missionaries gave those they baptized? Many were baptized in Africa, where the LDS Church claims to have about one million members. The above article said 85% of Kenya is Christian which includes anyone who claims to be Christian. Mormonism claims to be Christian, so to what are LDS missionaries converting Kenyans? LDS Apostle Bruce R. McConkie answered that question on page 136 of his book Mormon Doctrine: âThis (LDS) Church is the âonly true and living Church upon the face of the whole earthâ (D. & C. 1:30), the only organization authorized by the Almighty to preach the gospel and administer the ordinances of salvation, the only Church which has power to save and exalt men in the hereafter.â Since Kenya was already 85% Christian, LDS missionaries are converting them to the LDS Church, not to Christ. If you listen to their message, you wonât hear much about Christ except for Christâs Church, His commandments, His priesthood, etc. The two-page article about Kenya doesnât say anyone trusted Christ as Savior. It states that young Kenyans are drawn to the LDS Church due to its programs. I donât question the sincerity of the LDS missionaries, but I do question their message. Paul warned about Satanâs ministers who âappear as ministers of righteousnessâ (II Cor. 11:15). That applies to anyone who teaches false doctrines. Pray that many more LDS will see that it is not Christâs Church that saves, but it is the Christ of the Church who saves.
The Micah Project (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) has two group homes for boys and young men, an outreach to street children, and a variety of other ministries to vulnerable people in need. It also has a job training and creation program called Micah Works, designed to teach and empower young men and women from the streets.

This video is not a comprehensive history of the Micah Project; rather, it is my personal testimony of Godâs faithfulness since the very beginning. It is based on a blog that I wrote called âA Beautiful, Broken Gift: Reflecting on 25 years of Ministry in Honduras.â I pray that, as you watch it, you too will see His unceasing love for the Micah Project and our boys, even through times of deep loss. I pray that you will also see the deep impact that YOU have had on us as you have sustained us through your love and prayers for so many years. - One aspect of ministry along the border is âSaturdays in Matamorosâ, with what the locals call a clandestine rehab for ex-cons. It is essentially a highly protected jail with strict rules for the 75 men and 35 women. I am not a preacher, per se, but I do come alive as I share my heart with these hardened men (& broken women) whom I have come to care for. I am praying, in faith, that I will see every one of them in the heavenlies, with you & me. Please pray for this.
- A key aspect along the border is to come alongside Rio Grande Bible Institute students, which we have realized is a slow, heart-to-heart process. Please pray for this.
- For her role as a missionary with me, Shalyn will complete a Moody Bible Institute program this month, attending her graduation in downtown Chicago in mid-May. This fall, Shalyn starts at RGBI for full-time Spanish language study. Meanwhile, Shalyn keeps her nursing certifications active.
Marissa & Gonzalo Yumiceba | Ohio | Avant Ministries
Newsletter - July 2025
The last two weeks have been filled with meeting the church team, building relationships with Spanish members, and learning our various responsibilities. Some of our regular activities are facilitating English conversation classes on Wednesday/Thursday. We are working with people who are developing their English skills from all over the world (Several Latin American countries, China, and even Angola!). Many of these people are not currently believers, so it is a valuable opportunity to help them develop practical skills while also teaching them about Jesus.. (To read more of Marissa's March Newsletter, we have it posted in the Great Room.)

- For safely arriving in Ohio and being able to settle into ministry here alongside the Grace Point Fellowshipâs (GPF) staff. Itâs been a blessing to get to know them all.
- For the Grace Point Spanish ministry, we have here. The members have been so welcoming and loving towards me and Gonzalo.
- For another year of life from God! Itâs hard to believe that Iâm 30 already, but I feel blessed to enter this new decade with so many new beginnings (home, husband, ministry, etc.).
Prayer
- For all the ministries that weâre undertaking as the Spanish interns here at GPF, Gonzalo will be preaching some Sundays, the womenâs ministry weâre hoping to develop, etc.
- For God to provide housing for Gonzalo and me. Weâve loved living with Adrian and building our team, both in and out of the office, but we're still looking forward to having our own space soon.
- For Gonzaloâs OPT to be officially approved by the government quickly, we are just waiting for the final decision that should be coming any day now.
